The USAID Empowered Youth Program is a 5-year activity that seeks to empower youth aged 18-24 and adolescent girls aged 15-19 through social end economic opportunities. The activity is being implemented by Michigan State University in collaboration with Egerton University, United States International University-Africa, National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA International, and the National Youth Bunge Association. The Program aims to connect youth to social and economic opportunities by a) increasing their economic prospects, b) building the capacity of higher education institutions, and c) strengthening youth-serving systems.
The program builds on existing evidence of youth social and economic challenges and opportunities from previous, and current USAID investments and key stakeholder engagement, including Kenyan youth and youth-serving organizations.
To increase economic prospects, the program is implementing an integrated skills training program that will include short courses, internships, mentorships, and capacity-building through entrepreneurial business startup assistance, tailored to each youth’s education level, work experience, resources, geography, and chosen employment pathways.
The training program will include short courses in entrepreneurship, life skills, digital marketing, and media tailored to youth’s educational level, work experience, resources, geography, and chosen employment pathways. From the program, youth will learn to self-assess, explore their wage and self-employment options, set realistic expectations, and devise clear actions on how to move forward on their chosen employment pathways.
The Program is looking for Trainers of Trainees (Youth) who will assist youth to gain these skills and knowledge to support their prospects of success in the future labor market. They will adapt the training curriculum to incorporate adequate training methods that will lead to better learner outcomes. They will foster a learner-centered approach to training that takes each individual's needs, interests, and goals into consideration and allow participants to shape their learning experience.

Applicants should have experience in training other trainers and/or the facilitation of training at the community level.
