Egerton University, through the Division of Research and Extension conducts demand-driven research that generates new knowledge, technologies, and innovations that seek to provide practical/ innovative solutions to societal and global problems based on Kenya’s national policies and priorities as well as market needs. The University has established a functional network of partners/collaborators in the public and private sector to address issues of food insecurity, through increasing the productivity of crops and livestock by using proper farm management techniques, planting high yielding and drought-tolerant hybrid seeds, giving adequate and balanced rations to livestock, controlling post-harvest losses, and ensuring value addition and efficient marketing of farm products.


Egerton University has partnered with a digital farming platform in Kenya to provide agricultural extension services. The platform is trusted in creating wealth for smallholder farmers to deliver a sustainable AgriTech ecosystem.


The Sub-County Champion will be instrumental in ensuring Village Advisor(s) (VA), Master Agent(s) (MA) and field teams achieve the set targets. He/she will supervise the VAs, MAs and work with Crop, Livestock and Agribusiness Consultants to ensure efficient service provision to farmers. He/she will report to the Team Leaders and work in collaboration with field teams to ensure achievement of set targets. Through the platform, we shall engage farmers in Nakuru, Bomet, Bungoma, and Trans Nzoia Counties and farmers in the Dairy Value Chain in Rift Valley and Nyanza. The candidate should be preferably based in Nakuru, Bomet, Bungoma, and Trans Nzoia Counties and in counties active in the Dairy Value Chain in Rift Valley and Nyanza.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment of VAs and MAs in their area of operation.
  • Train VAs and MAs on the platform’s operations.
  • Manage and supervise VAs and MAs and track daily performance of field teams and ensure the set monthly targets are achieved.
  • Coordinate farm visits to monitor dairy development and performance.
  • Support recruitment of farmers and farmer organisations.
  • Organise and conduct farmers trainings fordrairy.
  • Drive farmer activity, sale of inputs on cash and credit & Aggregation through the platform. Revenue per farmer is KSH 25,000 per season together with field teams.
  • Track daily performance of extension agents (VAs and MAs) within the activity pillars of inputs, mechanized production, and aggregation.
  • Collate and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports from VAs and MAs to Team Leaders.
  • Process field team (VA) payrolls and ensure they are paid on time.
  • Work with VAs in enrolment of according to set targets.
  • Identifying and propose MAs to work with the platform.
  • Aggregate farmers produce and ensure the produce is delivered to the buyers.
  • Ensure farmers access inputs, credit, extension services and markets.
  • Oversee all the operations at allocated county areas.
  • Reports to Team Leaders.

Competencies/Skills:

  • Education
  • Diploma or certificate in business management, economics, agriculture, agricultural economics, project management, agribusiness management, marketing and sales, social sciences, or any other relevant field.


  • Experience
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience working in corporate and P2P sales environment and knowledge in dairy and sales


  • Language Requirements
  • Proficiency in both oral and written communication in English and Swahili. Knowledge of local dialect preferred.

Initially 2 months and renewable based on meeting of set performance targets and duration of the assignment.
