The USAID Empowered Youth Program is a 5-year activity that seeks to empower youth aged 18-24 and adolescent girls aged 15-19 through social end economic opportunities. The activity is being implemented by Michigan State University in collaboration with Egerton University, United States International University-Africa, National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA International, and the National Youth Bunge Association. The Program aims to connect youth to social and economic opportunities by a) increasing their economic prospects, b) building the capacity of higher education institutions, and c) strengthening youth-serving systems.
USAID Empowered Youth builds on existing evidence of youth social and economic challenges and opportunities from previous, and current USAID investments and key stakeholder engagement, including Kenyan youth and youth-serving organizations.
Through the Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) Case Management approach, the Program aims to increase the receipt of integrated case management support services for vulnerable adolescent girls (ages 15-19) and their families to reduce gender-related barriers to economic participation.

The Case Managers will support gender mainstreaming and gender-transformative initiatives and scale-up activities already ongoing in relevance to gender mainstreaming.
They will identify the vulnerable adolescent girls and their families, provide training, and co-create capacity building programs with them. Modes of engagement will include workshops, linkages with mentors and financial and business support networks, integrated skills training and entrepreneurship support to ensure their success.
